ALL recorder forms are due tomorrow even if you child isn't buying a recorder, borrowing one, or bringing one from home.  Forms are due 12-18-14!!! Please speak to your child about this form. 

News and Notes for the week of December 15th

Math & Science:

In math this week students are learning all about fractions.  We are currently working on finding equivalent fractions.  Later this week, students will begin adding fractions with unlike denominators.  Students will be finding like denominators using equivalent fractions.  Please review these concepts with your child nightly.  Remember they should be bringing their math notebook home each night.

In science this week students will continue to explore chemical and physical changes.  They are learning about these changes through hands-on experiments.  We have launched rockets, grown bouncy balls, & observed rusting of steel wool.  Later this week students will create a lava lamp.  The children have had a great time learning about these changes.  They will have test over chemical and physical changes this friday. They have a study guide that they received last Monday.  They should study nightly. 

Homeroom News:

Our holiday party will be on Thursday at 12:45.  Please don't forget to let me know what you can send in for your child's party. 

The children did a GREAT job at the Atlanta Symphony performance.  It was a great experience. 

Announcements 12/12/14

Parents,

Here are a few updates for you. The spelling test for the words in Sort 13 has been rescheduled for Monday, December 15. The students know that they must sort the words into the correct category as well as spell the words correctly in order to received full credit.

Students have compeled their SRI test and these results will help to determine their new reading level. Students are to use these levels to assist them in checking out books on their level. Keep encouraging them to read daily!

There will be a test in science over solids, liquids, and gases. The students have their study guides to assist with this.

Be sure to ask your child about the Symphony trip today!
