Dear Parents,

In your child's Thursday folder you will find the order form for school pictures. Acworth's picture day is September 5th. Please check with your child to make sure that he/she has turned in the performing arts permission slip necessary to attend our annual trip to see the Atlanta Symphony. (date to be announced at a later time)

We will have a Spelling test tomorrow on the words from Sort 3. Your child may use the WTW page on the right hand sidebar of our blog or they might want to go to www.SpellingCity.com to look for my word lists to play a game.

Finally, don't forget that Monday, September 1 is Labor Day and school will not be open. We hope that you have a restful weekend and we'll look forward to seeing the children on Tuesday, September 2!

Important News!! Transportation Changes

Parents,

We are not allowed to take transporation changes by phone or email.  Also, some students are coming to school saying that they are supposed to go home a different way.  We cannot send students home a different way without a note. Without a note, your child will go home their usual way.   You can write the change of transportation in their agenda.  We can only accpet changes by sending in a note, dropping off a note, or faxing over the change of transportation.  Please understand this is a Cobb County policy.  It is for the safety of the children.  Our fax number is:  770-975-6602. MATH ACCESS CODES ARE HERE!!!!

Good news parents!!! Your child can access their math book online now.  It has helpful videos, tutors, and games to help reinforce what they are learning in class.  If your child forgets their homework, they can pull it up online.  They can print it or just write down the problems and answers. 

How to access the math book:

Go to: connectED.mcgraw-hill.com

User name: ccsd followed by your child's agenda number (no spaces)

Password: cobbmath1

Important Information about MONEY

Good afternoon Acworth All-Star parents,

Please remember if your child brings any money in for PTA, lunch, or ASP, they must have it in a school envelope.  The front of the envelope must be completely filled out.  Students are never give money to a teacher.  Per Cobb County policies, teachers may not collect money or hold money for any child.  We have a PTA box located outside of the lunchroom.  The ASP box is located outside of the ASP location.  Lunch money should be turned into the box located in the lunchroom.  The school doesn't make change either.  The amount you send in must be for the exact amount.  Thank you for understanding. 

Today's Update 8/7/14

Parents please look for Thursday Folders today. Please return the folder and the ABC's of Fifth Grade signature page. You may keep the information at home.

Tomorrow the students have P.E. during Specials time. Don't forget to wear sneakers!

The students had a really good first day. I saw students making good choices, making the decision to have a fresh start, and practicing listening skills! There is homework tonight! Students are to complete the sheet entitled The Big Day which is a reflection of our first day. Parents have homework too! Please look through, read and fill out neccessary forms in the Cobb County first day folder. Parents are also asked to sign your child's agenda tonight and every night.

Open House/Parent Orientation has been rescheduled. On Thursday, August 21 at 5:00 pm there will be a Title I Informational Meeting to be followed at 6:00 by a PTA meeting. At 6:25 we will begin our first Open House session and at 7:10 we will begin our second session. Open House ends at 7:40.
