Good Morning!
We are closing in on the end of our first 9 weeks of the year! The students have done a wonderful job of adapting to our school and all the new procedures of our classroom. With the end of the 9 weeks in sight, that means that conferences are right around the corner. Conference week is the week of October 17-21. A conference sheet has been sent home with every student with a date and time that you are scheduled for your conference. If you have a conflict, please return the sheet with the correct area marked or email me so we are able to schedule a time that works for you!
Our schedule will be altered this week and we will begin dismissal at 12:20!
As far as our classroom, we are beginning an ABL (Application Based Learning) Unit. This is a time where the students are using and applying there knowledge to create a project. It can be anywhere from a poster to building something. With this new unit, our schedule will be shifted around. For the last hour of the day, it will be dedicated to work time. This is when the students will be working with their groups on whatever the current project is. The students are in charge of their work time and project. This is a time where the students get to let their creativity fly! I am very excited to see how the students do with this unit and what all they create. With that being said, we sent home a letter on Thursday requesting some materials that students will need in order to create their different projects. If you have any of these objects laying around or feel willing to donate, here is a list of items we will need:
twigs, card board, shoe boxes, pine straw, hay, pine cones, pasta, feathers, leaves, rocks, non-toxic modeling clay (natural colors), tissue paper, brown paper bags, toilet paper rolls, felt, dry beans, rice, and tin foil.
Thank you all for your help and support!
