What a great field trip we had last week! We learned so much about safety and the students all had a great time! I hope you remembered to ask your child about what they learned.
We are getting close to that time of year when winter weather seems to become an issue. Please check the inclement weather form in the front of your child's agenda and see if you need to update or change any information. If you do make a change, please jot a quick note on your child's agenda page so I will know to check it and make the change on our class copy. Also, please make sure you dress your child appropriately. Layers are best this time of year. Our room can get chilly (or warm!) so it's a good idea for your child to bring a light sweater or hoodie to wear in the room.
I will be sending home information soon about the Six Flags Reading program. This is an oportunity for your child to earn a free ticket to Six Flags just for recording the reading that they are already doing each day. It is completely optional to participate.
What are we learning????
Math- We will be focusing on adding multiple numbers. We will also be focusing on using the addition and subtraction skills we have been learning in problem solving situations.
Reading- We just started one of my favorite units...folktales! We will start out by learning about fables and their lessons and then spend time reading versions of well-known fairy tales from many cultures.
Writing- We have begun working on opinion writing. Always a fun topic!
Science- We are almost finished with our studies of Georgia heroes for a little while and moving on to science. We will be learning about stars and the phases of the moon.
As always, thank you so much for your support in our classroom. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.
