Communication (notes, emails, newsletters, and grades):
Parent/Teacher communication is very important to me. In order to keep our communication current your child will be bringing home a "Homework folder” daily. Please check this folder each night. A behavior calendar is included in the folder. You will see how many points your child earned that day in school. This is the Positive Points System which will be explained later. I would appreciate it if you would initial the calendar date each day. I will ask students to check the folder daily for notes from you. Please put anything you'd like me to see in the front pocket of the folder. If an important note, such as a transportation change, is in the bottom of the book bag, I will not see it. If you need to speak with me please understand that conferences need to be scheduled. I cannot take time away from teaching the class to chat. I will be happy to schedule conferences before or after school hours.
Email is also a great way to communicate if you do not need an immediate action or reply. I check email twice a day. My email address is Shannon.Albright@cobbk12.org. Please DO NOT email transportation changes they must be faxed or sent to the office by 1:45. If email is down or if I have a substitute, your child will not receive the information.
I will send your child's graded papers home on Thursdays in their “Parent Teacher Communicator”. Please sign the paper in the front of the folder so that I know you have received your child’s papers or any other important information that was sent home. You may keep the papers unless they are stamped "please sign and return". On Friday I ask that your child return the “Parent Teacher Communicator” so that we may continue to use it each week.
Each Monday, you will receive a newsletter for the week in your child’s “Homework Folder”. In this Newsletter, you will find topics being discussed in class such as Essential Questions for the week, spelling words, important dates, ways to work together at home with your child, and test information. Please take the time to read the newsletter each week. There are times I may ask for small donations to help with experiments or activities we are doing. Please do not feel that you have to donate, but if you are going to the store or have an item at home, it would be greatly appreciated.
