Using a Wiki to Get Everyone Involved!

Wikis are a great way to get students and parents to work together on class projects and assignments.  Check out this Wikis For Your Class powerpont for some help in setting up a wiki.  It shows you how to creaet a wiki for your class.  I have created a few different wikis.  This lifecycles wiki was created for my different reading groups to construct thier own knowledge on the different stages of a butterfly's lifecycle.  The CRCT wiki was created so students could create thier own CRCT practice quesitons so other students could answer them.  This would ensure a review reference book for our class.

Ideas for using a wiki on your classroom blog include:

-Having students and their parents add content to the class wiki from home

-You can use your Wiki to share presentations with your students

-Make a class project to collaboratively write a reference book that others can use.

-Post assignments and study guides on your Wiki for the class to work on

-Get your class to create summary pages on every unit they learn

-Encourage students to share links and other helpful pieces of information on your classroom wiki

-Allow students to make drafts on the wiki and ask others to comment on them

Please fill out the sesion evaluation form so that I may better serve you in our next professional learning session.

Jing! A Screen Cast Tool

Jing is a great free tool that lets you capture a screen cast for up to five minutes.  Remember when I taught you how to use Wall wisher?  Check out the screen cast on Wall Wisher.  This screen cast shows others how to use Wall Wisher.  Now you can make your own instructional video. If you forget and need help check out this page for a list of short tutorials from Techsmith.  They are the creaters of Jing.

Please let me know how you liked Jing by taking a quick four question survey.
