Welcome To Acworth Intermediate School's Technology Lab
Our Technology Lab has 28 networked Dell computers. All of the lab computers have Internet access. Our students enjoy learning many programs including Kidspiration, Inspiration, Neighborhood Map Machine, Time Liner, Print Shop, Power Point and Super Science Show.
Our students develop writing, comprehension, and basic word processing skills using Student Writing Center, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint. We use Type to Learn to practice our keyboarding skills along with typing practice websites on our school home page. We use World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia as well as a variety of online resources for research.
The classes are part of the specials rotation. During this time the students are actively involved in projects that integrate Math, Science, Social Studies, Health and the Language Arts areas with computer skills.
Students use computers at Acworth Intermediate not only to reinforce academic skills but as a tool to gather information and to present knowledge in a creative way. Teachers strive to integrate technology into their existing curriculum so that using the computers is not a separate subject but rather a tool students are able to use to help them further their learning. The technology teacher and the classroom teachers collaborate to make the activities that are done in the computer lab an extension of activities that are done in the classroom.
