Well, we have 2 weeks down! The second week definitely flew by much faster than the first week.
We have Read and Feed tomorrow. Students are to bring in a snack to share (I will bring the drinks) and a small pillow, blanket or stuffed animal. Remember that everything needs to fit inside of the bookbag! We cannot walk down the hallway holding stuffed animals! :)
VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE
This year we are NOT allowed to take any transportation changes through email! All changes must be sent in with your child in the morning or faxed to the office by 1:45. This is different from year's past so please make special note of this new rule!
WHAT HAVE WE BEEN LEARNING
Reading- retelling, making connections (this week) We will also be learning about how to keep our Reader's Response binders. I asked the kids on Friday to get a half inch binder. They need to have them by Friday, Sept 2.
Math- graphing data in different ways, place value (this week) We have also been going to Math Lab with Miss Myers every Tuesday for 40 minutes. We will start going to Fast Math Lab every Monday and Wednesday for 20 minutes once the program is ready. Third grade students begin on multiplication so it would be a good time to go get some flash cards and start practicing! All facts through 10 need to be memorized by the end of the 2nd nine weeks.
Social Studies- latitude and longitude, equator and Prime Meridian, Roots of Democracy (this week)
Shurley English- types of sentences, subject noun and verb
Writing- becoming writers, how Writer's Workshop works
