Thank you Ms. Daly, you will be missed! Mrs. Dimitrious is back from maternity leave:)

I hope you all are having a great school year so far....I am glad to be back in the art room with all of you!

All grades are wrapping up projects that Ms. Daly started and getting ready to begin our Square 1 Art fundraiser.....details to come soon.....

5th Grade

5th Grade is learning how to create a drawing using 1 pt perspective.  Students are using pencils to draw 3-D buildings for a cityscape. 

4th Grade

4th Grade have learned about Pop art and open vs. closed forms.  The students have used the coiling, pinch, and slump method to create a cupcake container using clay. 

Students have also used first names and  created a pencil drawing of a symmetrical imaginary creature.

3rd Grade

3rd Grade has created clay pots using the slip, score, and coiling method.  3rd Grade is also learning to create their own scratchboard art.  Students are using a variety of lines to create an imaginative picture via scratchboard techniques.

2nd Grade

2nd Grade has created clay animals using pinching and additive methods.  A mouse or rabbit was suggested for beginners.

 Now 2nd Grade is finishing up a Radially balanced design.   We looked at Mandalas, Celtic knots, and Rose stained glass windows for inspiration.   Students made a rubbing of the design and have also experimented coloring by blending chalk pastels on to projects.

Time~ 5:30-7:30pm (PTA meeting begins at 6:30pm)

Don't Miss it: Each student including your child will have a framed masterpiece on display.  This one-night-only show is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to celebrate success in the fine arts and enjoy a performance by our chorus!

Bring Home Your Framed Art: Purchase your child's framed Original art ($20.00) to proudly display in your home or office.  In additon, a percentage of the sales go directly to your child's school.

Gifts For The Family: You may also buy reproductions at the art show.  A framed reproduction of your child's art is an amazing, personalized gift for gramdparents, friends, or other family members.

Ways to purchase your child's framed origianl Art:

Attend the School's art show and purchase the $20.00 framing package for your child's art

If you cannot attend the show~ you may prepay by sending in a WHITE school envelope that is properly labled with your child's first and last name, homeroom teacher, grade, and date.

(After March 31st  the framing package will be $25.00)

Art Show Projects

The following projects will be exhibited in the art show on March 31st (5:30-7:30pm) :

2nd grade has been working very hard at creating mixed-up portraits in the style of Pablo Picasso's Cubism.  Students learned about warm and cool color schemes and used those in the portrait and background to show contrast.

 

3rd grade has been working on Birch tree watercolors.  They have been learning about different watercolor techniques that painters use as well as mixing intermediate colors. 

 

4th grade is busy working on yarn paintings.  Students learned about landscapes and seascapes.  They also looked at the yarn painintgs of Georgia artist, Annie Greene.

 

5th grade has been learning about Andy Warhol and Pop art.  These students have also learned about color schemes (analogous, complementary, and monocrhomatic) and printmaking techniques (using digital cameras and printers.)  Each student used chalk pastels to color in a digitalized self-portrait.

 

Accepting LATE Square 1 Art orders

If you missed the Nov. 19th deadline for Sqaure 1 Art fundraiser orders you may turn in a LATE order.

The LATE Square 1 Art orders are due by 8:30am on Weds. Dec. 15th. Turn your labeled white envelope and order form into a black box by 8:30am Weds. (Dec.15th)

Please note the LATE orders will not be delivered until after the winter break (The company gives no due date for late orders, but should arrive in a timely fashion).

Thank you for your support of the Fine Arts! Funds raised will be used to purchase student art supplies!
