Art Supplies 2009-2010 School Year

The Art room is a very busy and messy place.

Please consider donating the following materials for the upcoming school year.

Baby wipes

tissue/kleenex

Hand soap

A sponge

pack of #2 pencils

Aluminum foil

*Art shirt/smock (An old shirt that can get dirty)

    *Please note: Art smocks donated are for community use- if you would like to wear a personal one it must be kept in your classroom and brought everytime you come to Art.  Students are responsible for their own clothing.

5th Grade: Ziplock plastic sandwich bags

Square 1 Art

Square 1 Art late orders will be delivered after January.

Square 1 Art orders are due by October 29th (Weds).

On Time orders will be delivered before winter break.

Art Club Projects October

Art Club members have been busy multi-tasking.....

Lost and Found - Art Club members designed and painted the "new" Lost and Found bin for the school

Famous Paintings on Stools - Permanent Collection for the art room of famous paintings re-created by the Art club members

WaterSmart Allatoona Ally Coloring Book Contest -  Only Art club members may participate in this exciting contest.  If your picture is chosen it gets placed in the Allatoona Ally coloring book.

Opposites - A 3-D painting of two images that show opposites.  Art Club members get to choose topic and medium.

In the works.....Street Performers of Art:

Students will choose a famous artist or famous painting and create an informational speech/skit that tells about the artist or artworks.   Students will also choose some sort of costume to show who they are dressed as.  Hopefully we will put on a performance in the Spring.  Look for more info. on this in the Spring.

Art Club

Art Club Auditions will be on Monday, September 8 from 2:30-3:45pm in the art room.

First offical day of Art Club will be on Monday, September 22.  Art Club will meet every Monday from 2:30-3:45pm in the art room unless communicated otherwise.  We will not meet on early release days.    Students will be picked up at  3:45pm at the lower doors by the bus port (ASP pick-up). 

Art Club is an afterschool program for 5th grade students only.  We will meet each Monday from 2:30-3:45pm in the Art room.  Art Club is for serious art students who show artistic skills. a positive attitude and excellent behavior skills.  Students will  have the ability to explore many art materials and processes.  This is a wonderful experience for students who love art and would like to further express their creativity.

Enrollment in Art Club is limited and students will have the opportunity to audition if they would like to participate.  Auditions will take place on Monday, September 8 from 2:30-3:45pm in the art room. (Info. will be sent home in Thurs. folders soon.) 

At the Audition, students will be asked to complete a drawing with specific expectations.  Evaluation criteria for the audition include artistic skill, imagination, neatness, and effort.  Students' behavior and ability to follow directions in Art class will also be considered.

Art smock/t-shirt to protect clothing (Please note:  If you have a personal art smock please store it in your classroom until your art day -- Any art smocks left in the art room will become community art smocks for those who may need it during class)

Recycling Fundraiser

Save on taxes.

Save the environment.

Help our school art program and cultural arts day.

Donate your used consumer electronics!

The Acworth Elementary Art program is conducting a recycling fundraiser.  There's nothing to buy.  We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used cellular phone(s), ink jet cartridege(s), laptop/notebook computer(s), iPod(s), digital camera(s) and digital video camera(s).  Your used item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations or refurbished and sold.  100% of the proceeds will help fund the Art program and Cultural arts day at Acworth Elementary.

Please place donations in container labeled Recycling Fundraiser outside of art room.

Good bye Mrs. Stoll

Good bye Mrs. Stoll.  We will miss you!

Mrs. Dimitrious will take over as full-time Art teacher here at Acworth.
